What do Big data, storage systems and kart race-tracks have in common?

We joined all of these together in our latest business meeting. The design of the content is not coincidental, because the racing lovers out there know that analysis of the gathered data from the racing car and the race-track itself make a true winner of any race. Countless sensors and detectors generate massive data, which process the data in the latest and best storages, just like a water-wheel in a mill. The challenge this time was therefore, to show new trends, which are implemented in the NetApp market and to show concrete success on the field of Bit data solutions. Matej made the introduction and showed in his presentation NetApp Solidfire solutions and awoken cravings in quite a few audience members who were listening. A system without RAID reconstructions, linear scalability, integration with servers with virtualization solutions, but mainly the excellent responsiveness all gather in the new field of the All-Flash storage family. The scale, which evaluates the market shares of the leading manufacturers on the field of Flash technology changed quite a lot in the last quarter year. NetApp jumped from the 4. place to a staggering 2. place and now leads the world market by more than ¼. And all this success even before the release of the new NetApp ONTAP 9 platform, which brings so many new technological innovations, that Marko had quite the work ahead of him in his presentation. RAID with triple protection, and an improvement of responsiveness on the same hardware, extra optimization of the used disk capacities, extensibility and we can go on and on. The term Big data can be heard quite a few times daily – but do we really grasp the fact, that every company has their own challenges, when facing the mastery of unstructured data? The result of a recipe can be imagined easily if there is a picture of the finished dish. That is why Andrej decided to show some of the solutions, which were already successfully implemented and helped our partners to a fast answer to even to their most complicated questions. With the exchange of information we guarantee a head-start from all of the competitors. But we are not aware enough, that with the receiving of information, we create holes in the digital fortress around the information technologies. Žiga taught us how even the most advanced solutions can be turned over by some good-for-nothings and how they can crawl into the very inner of the IT structures, where they can reed havoc and cause substantial damage to any business. We also learned from him how to tackle these challenges with the help of the Splunk platform. All that is left now is the last item of our friendly meeting – testing the responsiveness and performance on the race-track with agreeable 400ccm karts. The width of the kart race-track enabled 6 racers simultaneous usage. The smell of exhaust fuels pumped the adrenalin of the drivers even higher and the latency of the best laps as well as the number of the best drivers, who conquered the race dexterously, dropped with every new lap and the best of them were left a place in further elimination races. The last race with the 6 most-skilled drivers caused big tensions of the fans cheering and they cheered for their favorite racer till the very peak of the race, which was the award ceremony for the best 3 racers at the end. Because we don’t want to lose any unnecessary words for the culinary skills of Arvaj, we only say this – you have got to try their food.
